I’ve come to the sad realization that I don’t have time to feed my tumblr. Many reasons, busy with work, busy with kids, busy with house…
But the real reason is I’m spending more time over on fb. I just don’t have time for both.
So for now, take care…if you are on fb, you can find me as Aaron Jacobson. In the Milwaukee network.
Found here.
Gartner predicts a 3.4% rise in spending in 2010, after a decline of 1.2% in 2009. 2010 can not get here fast enough.
True Confession time. I have to admit this…it’s almost like some sort of recovery step….what I’m recovering from I have no idea.
But, last night my iPod was having a really poor string of songs on random shuffle. Skip, Skip, Skip, Skip…if I have to skip one more song…I’m re-shuffling, skip…ughhh.
So on the new random shuffle…the first song to come up….<gulp>
Black Boys on Mopeds by Sinead O’Connor
I love this song.
Margaret Thatcher on TV
Shocked by the deaths that took place in Beijing
It seems strange that she should be offended
The same orders are given by her
I’ve said this before now
You said I was childish and you’ll say it now
“Remember what I told you
If they hated me they will hate you”
England’s not the mythical land of Madame George and roses
It’s the home of police who kill black boys on mopeds
And I love my boy and that’s why I’m leaving
I don’t want him to be aware that there’s
Any such thing as grieving
Such a haunting, lonely song…that brings me back to the Tienanmen Square protest/massacre in 1989.
<phew> I feel like a giant gorilla is off my shoulders.
Hey Dad -
So it’s been 8 years since you slipped into your forever nap. Hard to believe. Quite stunning actually.
Besides the ups and downs of various sporting events that would have been fun to share with you…most notably the Iowa Hawkeye Football squad…you have missed out on:
- September 11, 2001
- The horrible tsunmai of late 2004
- Iowa City experienced a tornado that ripped through downtown and worse flooding last year than those floods in 1992.
- Wars in the mid east
- Gas prices
- and we are currently in a very scarey economic meltdown
…just to name a few.
You’ve also missed out on:
- Us moving from Wheeling to Crystal Lake…then eventually to rural Wisconsin.
- The birth of Payton
- Matt got remarried, he and his wife Bridget have an awesome little girl named Finley.
- They are also in process of moving to Des Moines
- I’m back into karate
But as things always change, some things will always stay the same.
- Sheri and I are still surviving marriage
- The kids are rockin’ and rollin’ in school
- All the kids are super active in activities (karate, gymnastics, football, baseball, basketball)
- Still just trying to get from one day to the next
So, while it’s hard to live w/out you in our lifes…I’m a realist and understand that we must. Last week, my director at work lost his father and I got a chance to talk to him this morning for the first time since. Having that conversation put me right back in that hospital room 8 years ago. I miss you lots and lots and lots…and I’ll keep plugging away, keeping my chin up…even if I don’t have much hair left (on my head) and the hair on my chin is starting to turn grey.
Keep the stove on for me will ya?
Your loving son,
Aaron
Sheri went to the library to pick up “To Kill a Mockingbird” for me. The database told her it was in repair so she asked the librarian about it.
It was true, the book was not available. However, “To Kill a Mockingbird” happened to be the current book in The Big Read.
The program from the National Endowment for the Arts is basically a program designed to get more people reading. So the librarian gave my wife a paperback copy of “To Kill a Mockingbird” for free. What a great idea!
Now if I can finish it by April 1st, the library’s reading club will discuss on the evening of 4/1…
