So yesterday I was wrapping up the administrative tasks to send a mass communication for one of my projects. The project is changing the Network Attached Storage (NAS) filers, but that’s not the point of this post.
The point is that this project impacts every Unix application in the organization, all 383 of them. I have an inventory of all the applications tied to ownership of the apps. Manager, Primary Owner, Secondary Owner….
Turns out that 11% of the app owners, are no longer employed by the organization. 23% do not have a secondary owner. And for the record, only 0.5% do not have a manager.
Of course my iPod chimed in with “Leaving on a Jet Plane” by John Denver. It was sobering.
